ATLwood: Susan Sarandon challenged to ping pong



– Jake Gyllenhaal, here filming Prisoners withHugh Jackman, was spotted at Watershed on Saturday. He’s apparently staying in Midtown, but was also seen at Flywheel, an indoor cycling studio in Buckhead, this weekend as well.

– Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium posted on its Facebook page: “Susan Sarandon outside taking pictures of CHURCH!!! Come to ping pong tournament tonight, supposedly she is playing, I meant, getting her ass kicked! It’s all about love!” Did anybody check it out?

– Not sure what Susan Sarandon is doing in ATL, but both she and Chris Noth have been spotted around. Any ideas? Maybe just visiting us in the land of car fires and sudden tornados … READ MORE

ATLwood: Gird your loins, Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman have landed



– Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted at ‪the Whole Foods on Ponce‬ Thursday. He and Hugh Jackman are here filming Prisoners. (As ATLwood friend @UnchainedFoodie summed things up, “Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal are filming in Atlanta, so be on lookout and don’t fall in puddles of estrogen forming all over the city”).

– According to a friend, Jackman is living in Decatur right now, and has been spotted at a gym nearby … #EyesPeeled

– Ludacris was spotted at Whiskey Blue at W Atlanta – Buckhead on Saturday night, while five-time World Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield was a patron at the W Midtown on the same night (and, reportedly, dancing it up) … READ MORE

ATLwood: Hugh Jackman attends a screening for ‘Les Mis’; here filming ‘Prisoners’


– Jennifer Breit a.k.a. AJCBuzz tells about how she‬ saw Les Misérables with Hugh Jackman. “I mean I saw it *with* Hugh Jackman. In Atlanta.” (He’s here filming Prisoners, more info below).

ATLwood: Mark Wahlberg hangs out for ‘Broken City’


– The set of Anchorman 2 (BTW! Anchorman 2 is filming here. Although not really until March) has been besieged by wire thieves. This is something we at Creative Loafing have had first hand experience with (at least, at the old office. Class).

ATLwood: Tebow and T.I. spend New Year’s Eve in ATL … though not together


– Happy Shaq Year: Shaquille O’Neal was at Davio’s last Wednesday for dinner, chowing on the Philly Cheesesteak Spring Rolls.

– Usher was spotted in L5P last week, which is apparently a popular place to see him.

– Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newtoncheated on Charlotte and spent some time here in Atlanta shopping at Lenox on Wednesday.


ATLwood: Luda crisscrosses the city


– Ludacris has been spotted quite a few places in the last few weeks, I don’t know if he’s just getting out more or people are noticing him for whatever reason, but there you have it. The man formerly known as Chris Lova Lova had dinner at Davio’s (another good spot to see celebs in town) Monday night with about 20 people. Tuesday he also showed up at Nordstrom at Phipps Plaza.

– More Dining Habits of the Rich and Famous, byAJC Buzz: “[Michael] Douglas and [Morgan] Freeman were spotted at Davio’s a number of times (fun trivia: Freeman is a Brussels sprouts fan), and [Robert] De Niro dined at Miller Union while he was here. Douglas also had brunch at Canoe on Sunday while his three colleagues were spotted at various times at Atlanta’s legendary Clermont Lounge.” … READ MORE

ATLwood: Ludacris and Justin Bieber, together again


– Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries,” as well as her mom and four friends, dined at Cucina Asellina on Saturday night. The group was overheard talking about wrapping up the show and upcoming travel to Italy.

– Ludacris was spotted getting his health on at Nuts ‘N Berries in Brookhaven on Tuesday. Reminds me of the time I once spotted Andre3000 at Rainbow Grocery. No one is too cool for vitamins and pumpkin seeds, y’all. [via ‪@Peachyscoop‬]

ATLwood: Morgan Freeman the latest celebrity to visit the Clermont


– The cast of Last Vegas continues to patronize the Clermont Lounge, including Morgan Freeman. Apparently Robert De Niro and Kevin Kline were there as well watching the Falcons game.

– According to the AJC Buzz, “Thursday evening,Owen Wilson was spotted at Mi Cocina, a new Tex-Mex place in Midtown. Not sure what he’s doing here. He was here earlier this year filmingThe Internship with Vince Vaughn, so it’s possible they needed to do a little final filming. Or maybe he’s here for the SEC Championship.” You know how much Owen loves this town so who knows! … READ MORE

ATLwood: Woody Harrelson visits the Clermont


– Apparently Joe Manganiello was working out at the LA Fitness on Spring St. last week and looking good doing it (as if there would be any question). He’s here filming Ten with Arnold Schwarzenegger and whole lotta other people. (Thanks Ed!)

– Actors Tom IrwinBrett Cullen and Grant Show, three of the main cast members in the new Lifetime show, “Devious Maids” (currently filming, see below) dined at Cucina Asellina on Monday, and were overheard musing on what they should go do and see in town (they should ask Owen Wilson – “all the things!”)


ATLwood: Joe Manganiello, Tyson Beckford at STK


– STK remains the place to see and be seen for celebrities in town, including model Tyson Beckford (there with a lady friend, sorry other ladies) Sunday, as well as Joe Manganiello and four of his friends on Tuesday night.
